FAQ: What is a CPU cycle and how many do I need?
A.: CPU 'cycles' are a measure of how much load is placed on the web servers while delivering your website to the visitors browsers. Static pages (standard HTML) place very little load on the server. Dynamic pages that generate the HTML on the fly dynamically as the page is requested and delivered use some more cycles but the amount will vary depending on the type and complexity of code used. At the time of writing this entire site uses under 50 cycles per month which equates to just 50/10,000'ths of the approximate processing power of just one web server, which really isn't a lot for the traffic we get and the two thousands or so dynamically generated pages.
